The Gesture
The Gesture is about talking but not having to say anything. When talking, the concentration is locked on the face and the facial features, the gestures are overlooked in a conversation. They don’t necessarily add to the conversation, but their dramatic style and flamboyance creates their own. Sign language and macaton are both well-known languages around the world but a popular form of communication is the gesture as it can operate on a different level to the spoken language. The gestures are a performance we create when speaking in a conversation; alone they stand as a suggestive action towards our emotions, which sub- consciously we can recognise. From the range of movements, we can depict that different conversations have alternative context but without the facial features these can be a mysterious action, especially in a freeze frame as you never realise what your hands do when your speaking.
